LAYA GASA TREK (14 Days)

Day01. Arrive Paro
• Our representative will greet u on arrival
• Evening, visit to the town area

Day02. Paro
• Visit Ta Dzong (built in 1656 and renovated in 1968), an ancient watchtower.
• Rimpung Dzong ( Built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, in 1646)
• Drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress. Built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal
• On the way back, Visit Kichu Lhakhang built by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. This temple marks the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan

Day03. Paro: Excursion Taktsang Monastery
• Hike to Taktsang Monastery, lunch Taksang Cafeteria.
• Visit to Tachog Lhakhang Lhakhang and a Bhutanese Farm House
• Visit to Archery Ground. ( The National Game of Bhutan)

Day04. Paro –Shana (Start of Trek)
(Altitude 2850m, Distance 17 km, Walking Time 5-6 hours, Ascent 360 meters, Descent 80 meters)
• Trek to Shana start from the Drugyel Dzong,a ruined Fortress

Day05. Shana-Thangthangka
(Altitude 3610m, Distance 22 km, Walking Time 7-8 hours, Ascent 770 meters, Descent 10 meters)
• The trail follow through the river valley
• The camp will be set up in a meadow. From there if weather permit, you can see the great view of Mount Jumolhari

Day06. Thangthangka-Jangothang
(Altitude 4080m, Distance 19 km, Walking Time 5-6 hours, 480 meters Ascent)
• After crossing an army outpost, the trail leads to the beautiful valley, passing the village Soe Takethang
• You could find lots of yaks and the herder’s

Day07. Jangothang Halt
The day in Jangothang provide 3 options for day hikes
• Hike to Jumolhari lies to the west direction
• Hike to Jichu Drake lies to the north
• Hike to number of unclimbed peaks lies to the east direction

Day08. Jangothang –Lingshi
(Altitude 4010m, Distance 18 km, Walking Time 6-7 hours)
• The trail climbs rapidly for about half an hour and crosses the bridge
• Climb to the Nyilila pass at an altitude of 4870m
• After the pass as you will come down into the lingshi camp, you will enjoy the great view of Lingshi Dzong

Day09. Lingshi-Chebisa
(Altitude 3880m, Distance 10 km, Walking Time 5-6 hours, Ascent 280 meters, Descent 410 meters)
• After lingshi Dzong, climbing up gently you will reach to a village Gom Yu
• Camp is by the side of the river. You will enjoy the beautiful waterfall. You can also go around the village and enjoy.

Day10. Chebisa-Shomuthang
(Altitude 4220m, Distance 17 km, Walking Time 6-7 hours Ascent 890 meters, Descent 540 meters)
• Start and climb up through a wide pastureland towards Gobula Pass (4410m)
• Camp is above the river

Day11. Shomuthang-Robluthang
(Altitude 4160m, Distance 18 km, Walking Time 6-7 hours, Ascent 700 meters, Descent 760 meters)
• Two hours walk you will reached Jhari la pass( 4640m)
• Camp is at the Robluthang in a rocky meadow

Day12. Robluthang-Lemithang
(Altitude 4140 meters, Distance 19 km, Walking Time 6-7 hours, Ascent 850 meters, Descent 870 meters)
• Climb slowly up to sinchela pass( 5005m)

Day13. Lemithang-Laya
(Altitude 3840m, Distance 10 km, Walking Time 4-5 hours, Ascent 60 meters, Descent 340m)
• Walk along a narrow winding river valley, through a deep forest
• The path leads you to a laya village
• From the village you will get good view of the Masagang
• Camp is below the school.

Day14. Laya (Halt)
(Altitude 3050m, Distance 19km, Walking Time 6-7 hours, Ascent 260 meters, Descent 1070 meters)
• Rest day at laya
• Spent the day visiting the village houses and learning their culture

Day15. Laya-Koena
(Altitude 3050m, Distance 19km, Walking Time 6-7 hours, Ascent 260 meters, Descent 1070 meters)
• View the crashing river, feeder streams and waterfall

Day16. Koena-Gasa Tsachu
(Altitude 3050m, Distance 19 km, Walking Time 6-7 hours, Ascent 260 meters, Descent 1070 meters)
• After crossing the Bari la (3740m) and then descend to Gasa village
• Then descend for another one hour to the Gasa Hot spring.
• Camp is near to the Gasa Hot spring

Day17.Gasa Tsachu-Goen Damji (End of the Trek)
(Altitude 2250m, Distance 18 km, Walking Time 5-6 hours, Ascent 470meters, Descent 270 meters)
• The trail passes through pine and oak forest
• The vehicle will picked you up and drive to Punakha.

Day18. Punakha- Thimphu
• Visit Punakha Dzong situated between Pho Chu( Male River) and Mo Chu( Female River)
• Visit chimi Lhakhang( “Temple of Fertility”)
• After lunch, Drive to Thimphu
• Dinner and Overnight in Hotel, Thimphu

Day19. Thimphu Sightseeing
• Visit National Memorial Chorten built in 1974 in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk( “Father of Modern Bhutan”’,
• Visit the National Library,
• Institute for Zorig Chusum, commonly known as the Painting School,
• Visit the Handicrafts Emporium,
• Visit to the Tallest Statue of Buddha in the World
• Visit the Tashichho Dzong

Day20. Departure: Drive to the Airport, Flight on Druk Air. TASHIDELEK
